Fleischman has a history of vetting candidates and officials in the OCGOP for sufficient Zionist sympathies. Famously accompanied former OCGOP Chair Scott Baugh and then Costa Mesa City Council Member, Jim Ringheimer, to Israel in 2015. Following this trip, Scott Baugh would be the OCGOP endorsed Congressional candidate for his district in the 2018, 2022 & 2024 primaries.
Fleischman is a well-known Never Trumper in Orange County who advocated for changes to the California GOP delegate apportionment process during the 2023 CAGOP Convention in Irvine to harm President Trump’s chances at the 2024 GOP Presidential Nomination. Fleischman and other DeSantis acolytes actively worked to make sure that all of California’s 169 Presidential Delegates would be awarded based on a percentage of the vote rather than the traditional winner-take-all basis, which would have harmed President Trump's chances at the nomination.

Since doing so, Van Der Mark has become the endorsed OCGOP candidate for State Assembly District 72 for the 2026 election cycle, in addition to boasting a “six figure war chest” according to reports by OCGOP treasurer Jon Fleischman.

Whitaker's tenure as OCGOP Chairman (2014-2024) witnessed Orange County Republicans experience their worst midterm defeat in party history, a 6-0 sweep in midterm Congressional races during the 2018 primary while they never managed to retain the 3-3 split in Orange County Congressional seats prior to the disastrous midterms of 2018.
Over the course of his decade as Chairman, Whitaker NOT ONCE managed to host President Trump in an official capacity despite President Trump being in Orange County three times since 2020 alone. For context, the OCGOP managed to host Nikki Haley at a party function in Newport Beach in February 2024 the night after the 2024 Nevada Primary which saw President Trump on the ballot as “OTHER CANDIDATE”. Adding insult to injury, Whitaker hosted transgender Bruce Jenner when it was considering a run for California Governor at an OCGOP Central Committee meeting in June 2021 but never extended the same courtesy to President Trump while Chairman of the OCGOP.
